Paignton Villa Presentation Evening 11th June 2022
A busy weekend for me as the Devon FA asked me to do the photos for the Disability County Finals on Sunday at Coach Road. I then received an invite to attend the Paignton Villa presentation evening on Saturday at the Sports Lounge in Preston.
I did not quite make the guest of honour status I was hoping for lol, but was more than happy to attend as I have a lot of time for this great local football club. It goes without saying I had one of my cameras with me to take some photos of the presentations and other general shots of the event.
I arrived at the Sports Lounge and was given such a warm and welcoming reception. Not being a pub person I thought my poor eardrums were going to burst, all the boys and ladies were in very good voice.
I listened to the speeches and all the thanks and praise for all the people behind the scenes who make Paignton Villa the great club they are. It took me back to my childhood days when I was the Newton Spurs mascot and a number of my family had various roles in the club.
It is why local football is so very special and why it must never be aloud to die. I was not able to stay until the end, firstly I wanted to get the pictures up this evening and secondly I have to be at Coach Road at 9.30am tomorrow morning. On my way home I knew no matter what my views are on the team sheets in the south Devon League, my heart is in grassroots football and I can not walk away from it.
Well done Paignton Villa, what a wonderful club you are and full of so many wonderful people and players. Many thanks for asking me to attend this evening, It was a pleasure to be a part of your presentation evening.
