Poperro Cornwall
Well it is Sunday and we will have to just call the Lynmouth thread the Easter Friday Special.
When people go to Cornwall they so often want to spend the day in Looe, I do like Looe but like many places I do feel its got a bit commercialised and you can’t really blame anyone for trying to make a living from visitors who come during the summer months.
I much prefer the next village along the coast a place known as Polperro, a magic place full of very narrow streets and great cliff top walks. It’s when Carol and I go to such places I always make the statement that Rolf would love to be here with us. Rolf is a Dutchman who just loves England and we have taken him to places where there are narrow streets and he can’t believe cars and go both ways in some of the streets.
Mind you won’t be very welcome in Polperro if you try and take your car into the streets, so it’s best to park in the very large car park that is on the entrance to Polperro. It’s not expensive as it’s not rip of Torbay.
I must admit I do love walking around such places that seem trapped in time, I’m sure there must be a few properties that are that bit newer, but most have stood where they are for many years.
There are good walks on both sides of the harbour, but like all such places you will need to walk up some very steep paths, but the views you will then see will always be worth the effort.
It’s a good day out and its does not take too long to get there from Torbay, so you can stay just that bit longer and still be home in time for your supper.
