I don’t know what this world is coming to at times and the story I heard today told me the world really is getting a madder place to live in. The story concerns Hayes Road Primary Scholl in Paignton and the eleven year old son of one of their own school governors.
His son was in the dinner line waiting to be served and was told he couldn't be served and burst into tears in the hall. WHY? Well it seems his lunch account was £1.70 in the red with payments. If he had been given a meal then the account would have been a staggering £3.40 in the red.
The dad went and saw the head as he thought there must have been a mistake, he rightly felt if anyone was to blame for there not being money in the account, it should have been him and his son shouldn’t have to be responsible. He did say he found it incredible that a primary school aged child can be left without lunch for potentially being in debit for £1.70.
The dad has quit as a school governor and while I can fully understand the system the school has put in due to money not always been paid in the past, I do feel for such a small amount it would have been better to give the boy a lunch and sort out the small arrears with the father later

did you know this bloke has had 3 previous warnings about failing to pay for his boys food at school? if it was a one off then yeah I would be sympathetic, but unfortunately he should and does know better and failed his son on numerous occasions!

I was unaware of those facts Aussie when I made my opening post. Even so I still do not feel it was right to make the child go hungry and maybe for the sake of such a small amount of money, they could have given him a meal and charged the dad double the price as a way of teaching in a lesson.

it's a case of two wrongs don't make a right, the whole situation was handled incorrectly, both parties are in the wrong and the only real loser in the whole affair is the kid! I mainly disagree with the fathers stand point taking the moral high ground when he's blatantly in the wrong!
