So the powers that be have today approved to reduce fire cover in Torquay to just one full time crew and the second full time crew to become a part time one only. Utter madness and very likely to put lives at risk in a town that sees its population grow so much during the summer months.
As a local rate payer I’m sick to death with all the cuts that have taken place, we are getting less and less for the money we have to pay out and the whole Bay is suffering as a result of all the cuts. Yet the council is full of over paid workers all on nice fat pensions who waste so much of our money and as a result fail to deliver some of the most basic services and requirements for a holiday destination.
There may be no point in building a new road into the Bay if all these cutbacks keep on happening as the Bay won’t be worth visiting and it’s only going to take one bad fire in a hotel where lives are lost, to put the final nail in the Torbay coffin.
I wonder how much money those who made today’s disgraceful decision get paid each year, I bet they would never take any pay cut to help protect the fire service, no they would rather put the public at risk.
