Thanks Bucklandgull, I wanted to go and watch this game as it would have also given me the opportunity to do a grounds report as well. But as I have to go to Plymouth tomorrow I decided I did not want to make two trips down the A38 over the weekend. so instead I will cover a local game and look forward to learning how well Buckland got on later.

Saltash 2 Buckland Athletic 1
A much improved performance from Thursday night and a little unlucky not to end up with a draw, Saltash took an early lead from a corner, chances fell to either team but the score reained 1-0 at the break. Buckland came out in the second half and dominated long periods of play, Buckland equalised from another corner from the right where Jordan Havlin met the ball at the near post and glanced the ball goalwards Blackler in the ashes goal should have done better, but he let the ball go under him 1-1 with Buckland pushing forward and looking to score again Saltash broke out from defence, and on the counter attack scored, which turned out to be the winning goal. Transfer news Frenchman Alex Jeannin has committed himself to Buckland, but was missing today,
Saltash 3 Buckland 2nds 2
Goals from Josh Webber and substitute Nick Edmonds, were not enough to give new manager Simon Dungey a winning start, but he can take many positive things from the reserves first friendly.

Many thanks for your report Bucklandgull and its pleasing to learn the team performed much better even if this was their third defeat on the trot. Pre season friendly matches are not so much about the final score, in saying that it is always nice to start the season proper in winning form. Such games are very useful in brooding in new players and trying different formations and tactics, but can never really be used a guide to how well any team will do once the new season gets underway.
There area number of very important elements in all the Buckland sides I have watched play that has been the main reason success has been achieved out on the pitch. All those same elements will play their part again this season and that is the reason I can’t see Buckland struggling in any shape or form.
Alex Jeannin is a great signing and I only hope he is committed to the club and will feature in most of the coming matches, if he does then I can Buckland being very tight at the back and not conceding that many goals. Having such an anchor man at the back will allow Danny Gaze to push on up the wing like he does, safe in the knowledge he has good cover behind him.
Will Buckland have enough fire power up front? That is the only real question I find myself asking, but when it comes to hard work, effort and battling from the first whistle to the last one, I have no concerns at all
