World Of Country Life August 2013
Took a week off work but had so many jobs that needed doing at home and as a result was not able to enjoy many days out doing the things I enjoy doing. I had planned to walk the new reopened section of the old Plymouth railway line between Tavistock and Yelverton but will do that some other time
I did managed to get out on Wednesday and decided to take Lyn to the World Of Country Life near Exmouth, a place I last visited about twenty years ago. Not a great deal has changed over those last twenty years, a few new things have been added but the rest is pretty much the same. In saying that there are plenty of things to do while you are there and at under ten pounds each to get in, it’s good value for your money.
There are a good number of exhibitions to wonder around and enjoy from old cars, steam engine, motorbikes to a wonderful old Victorian Street complete with a pub you can walk into, only down side is the dummy behind the counter can’t serve you with any drinks.
The bird of pray display was very enjoyable and while the birds were not send up into the skies as in so many of these types of displays, you were able to get close up to the birds as there were feeding posts placed in the seating area.
What I enjoyed the most was going on what they call the safari train, it’s a train a bit like the sort you can find at Paignton Zoo only the carriages are much bigger and can eat six people and it does not run on any tracks but is instead pulled by a large tractor.
It only costs £1.50 per a person to ride on it and it takes you out across two fields where it then stops and gets surrounded by loads of deers and llamas that you can feed by hand.
A good and enjoyable day out and a place I would recommend to any family as there are lots of things for the kids to do along with being able to stoke loads of very friendly animals.
