Bridport v Buckland Athletic 27/08/13

Buckland face another difficult game in Dorset against Bridport, nice set up and a decent pitch if i remember from last season.
Last year we gained a point when D Gaze got our goal in a 1-1 draw.
Bridport have started well and this will be another tight game(but they all are hard in this division)No easy games.
Team news M Booth is out with a damaged knee but Gavin Hammon should be back after missing the last 4 games so not the best team we could put out, but that is why the Gaffer has a big squad and im sure the starting 11 will give it their all.

Will put result up when i get back Tusday night.

A first minute goal by Jammie Micklewright.was all that seperated the two teams in Dorset tonight.
Buckland played well and just edged this tight encounter with a great team display.
well done lads made the travelling fans very happy.

A great result and a very important one coming on the back of two defeats. Buckland now 5th in the table but have played more games than some of the teams above and below them, so the three points are more than welcome.

I go to Bridport twice a week but unsure where the football ground is, one of these fine mornings I think I’ll go and look for it.

Onwards and upwards lads as I still feel you will all do well this season.

Dave pitch is near the river, when you get to the set of traffic lights coming into the town, turn back sharp left and ground is about 200 yards on the right where you go into a large carpark, excellent ground, pitch cut very tight, with a club house at the far end with a grandstand on the left and covered accomodation on the right , well supported with 100 watching last night with about 20 very happy Buckland fans.

BRIDPORT 0 BUCKLAND ATHLETIC 1
JAMIE Micklewright’s first-minute goal was enough to give the visitors all three points at St Mary’s Field tonight.

Bridport boss Trevor Senior had no qualms with the result and admitted afterwards that the 1-0 scoreline flattered his team.

The Bees went into the Toolstation Western Premier Division game on the back of an impressive win at Bitton on Saturday but they produced very little to trouble a slick Buckland outfit.

The match was less than 60 seconds old when the away side took the lead, Micklewright finishing neatly in the box after a good passing move which started in defence.

Buckland could have gone further in front in the first-half while the hosts struggled to produce anything in terms of chances.

Things didn’t really improve for the Bees after the interval and Jamie Filkins’ miscued effort at the far post was about as good as it got for them.

“To be fair, 1-0 flattered us and it could have been 4-0 or 5-0,”
said Senior. “Buckland are a good side and they played really well.
“Their movement and passing was good and we didn’t play at all, but then they didn’t allow us to.

“They played with a good tempo and worked hard off the ball.
“Sometimes you’ve just got to hold your hands up and say you were beaten by the better side on the day.”

He went on to add: “I think they will be near the top at the end of the season though I said the same thing about them last season as well.

“They had so many games called off that when they tried to catch up with the other teams they didn’t do so well.
“We were looking to build on our win on Saturday but we were lucky it was only 1-0.
“If we play like that against Merthyr in the cup this Saturday we could be looking at a cricket score.

“We’ll train on Thursday night and try and turn things around for the weekend.”
