Buckland Athletic take on Ilfracombe Town on Wednesday night with a 7.45 kick off.
Buckland will look to follow on from Saturdays fine away win with another 3 points, but Buckland know that there are no easy games in the Western league. Ilfracombe sit 0ne off the bottom and are not having the best of starts to the season. Buckland made their way up the North Devon link road back in August and came home with the three points in a fine 5-0 win, if i remember the scoreline was not a true reflection of the game and our first shot half way through the first half, came our first goal.
The Blues of North Devon had a bad day on Saturday where they lost to Gillingham 6-0 so they will be wanting to put that right.
Team News
Jamie Micklewright has left the club he was not happy at playing out wide and not having many minutes and he is trying his luck out at Liverton.
Gavin Hammon came off the bench at Hallen and had some minutes, and he will be hoping for a start.
All other players i think are available, so Adam should have a very strong bench.
Farkins who helped out on Saturday due to Bideford having no game will be back at Bideford this week.So i presume either Ben Head will fill back in or Mike Booth will slot in beside Alex Jeannin in the back four.

Result Buckland 1 Ilfracombe 2
Not the reult Buckland were looking for.
Ilfracmbe did look like a team who were sitting so low in the table and played some neat football.
Bucks took the lead from a deflected shot by D Griffiths.but the blues equalised before the break when a forward just got in front of Drewy and stabbed the ball home.
Ilfracombe got the winner from a freekick on the edge of the box which flew into the top corner giving Kenny little chance.
FA vase game sat against Bristol Manor Farm .

After managing to beat Ilfacombe away by five goals to nil, ( even if that score line was a bit flattering for Buckland) I was expecting Buckland to win this fixture. Considering there was another game not very far away with a Devon select side taking on and England C side, the crowd was higher than I expected it to be.
Reading Amy’s report it very much sounds as if Buckland in the first half created a number of chances and failed to put any of them away. I came away from the last game I watched at Homers Heath when Buckland failed to score against Longwell Green Sports, thinking Buckland were missing the services of a natural striker who knew where the goal was.
In the pre season games I watched I was very impressed with Gavin Hammon and wonder why he is not given a start as he only ever seems to be on the bench coming on when he does late in games. Good luck to Jamie Micklewright out at Liverton, to be honest I’m not surprised he has decided to move on as he was not getting much time out on the pitch and was not being played in his favourite position.
For some reason Buckland are not the well oiled side they were last season and is that down to team selection? Or the way they are being asked to play by manager Adam Castle? You expect a Buckland side to come out very strong in the second half and that is something that does not seem to be happening.
Its no good getting mad to the point you are sent from the dugout when some decisions do not go your way, one needs to look at what is not working out on the pitch and coming up with answers why that is the case. The plain facts are Buckland do not look as good a side as they did last season and its Adam Castles job to sort it out and get his side playing better than they have been.
There are many good players at the club and there has not been that many changes in the playing personal from last season, yet at times they play like they are all strangers to each other. It was very noticeable in the home game against Longwell Green Sports, Danny Gaze and Dan Griffiths often having words with each other as both could not get on the same wavelength.
Danny is one of my favourite Buckland players and I have said before that when he is wearing the captain’s armband, I would like to see him being far more vocal out on the pitch. While he leads by example in the way he plays and the effort he puts into his own game, he needs to be leading as the captain with his mouth as well.
One other thing that has been noticeable is the lack of passion in the Buckland dugout, Adam Castle does seem more laid back and far less vocal that a certain Anthony Lynch. I do not like to see managers lose it as was the case with Anthony Lynch at times, but Mr Lynch sure got his feelings over to his players out on the pitch and provided much motivation for them.
All managers are different; some stand up and shout at their players for the whole ninety minutes, some others sit down and say very little and show very little emotion about what is going on out on the pitch. I would like to see Adam Castle somewhere in the middle, IE, showing a bit more emotion while not losing it to the extent he upsets the playing officials.
Buckland are a great club, the standard of football played has always been high, its Adam Castles job to maintain that high standard and produce the sort of football the Buckland fans are used to.
