Today was not about writing any match report, it was just about going along and supporting this very worthy charity match. I have not been inside Plainmoor for about four years, but on the drive over my mind was filled with so many great memories. I remember so well the day I held my then young sons hand and took him to his first ever Torquay United match.
In this great ground I have screamed and shouted until I lost my voice, I have cried real tears of happiness and joy and plenty of heartbreak and despair. I had to ask myself did I miss really going to Plainmoor? I knew the answer was yes, but then I do love my Saturday afternoons covering local football matches and I know that is something I’m not ready to give up just yet.
Riviera United gave a good account of themselves and played some good football at times. But the ex pros who were out on the pitch showed just why they had played at the level they did.
It was good to see some of the old faces from the past, players whose name I had chanted as they played for the team I had supported all of my life. Yes they won the cup, but as I said, this was all about raising money for Rowcroft a place that is dear in so many peoples hearts.
So instead of my usual match report I will just post up lots of the match photos I took today.
