We often forget about the wonderful locations where we can spend a Sunday afternoon right on our own doorstep. One such place is Cockington Village and for anyone who likes to take photos, then this is a must visit place.
I had to use the old lane into the village today due to the seafront road being closed for the Torbay half marathon. I think that may have been the main reason there was not as many people there as I expected there to be.
On the grass in front of Cockington Court was a display of vintage motorbikes which is partly why I ended up at Cockington today. Much work was done around the lakes over the winter months to tidy it all up, but it looked a bit bare around them.
I only stayed about two hours and then found the parking machine you have to pay as you leave that car park was out of action. A few other people who were leaving the same time as I was were concerned they might get a parking fine in the post due to this being one of those private companies that issue tickets for fun in many of our local car parks in the Bay.
We all took a photo of the out of action ticket machine as we wanted to pay but had no way of doing so. Someone said it had been out of action for a few weeks now.
It is always good to see families out enjoying themselves on a Sunday afternoon and I also enjoyed my return visit to Cockington. The horse drawn carriages were not running but that may have also been down the seafront road being closed all day.
