Goodrington To Broadsands & Steam Train Part two 22nd Feb 2018
The weather was rather dull this morning and it was also rather cold. But I wanted to do the second part of my Goodrington to Broadsands walk and also get a few more shots of our steam train.
This time instead of paying to park in the Goodington car park, I drove to Oyster Bends and parked there as I had noticed a path from there right to where I took the pictures of the train last week.
I parked up and walked down this path and turned right along a rather muddy path. It was all easy to start then came the climbs up hill and steps both down and up that you sure knew you had used. The first big set down takes you to the back of the holiday caravan park and I was not looking forward to walking back up them later on.
I walked on a good bit further and came to another down hill set of steps that led down to a viaduct. It was not the very big one you go under to get to Broadsands beach. I did walk down them and back up again as I thought from the top was a nice place to get the train shots again on its return leg.
While I was waiting up the top of these steps about sixty young people from South Devon College came up the steps. They were on a run from Brixham to Torquay and I have to say what a very polite and pleasant bunch of young people they were. The last one up was a slightly larger young lady who huffed and puffed up the steps and said to me that this was not her idea of fun.
Train arrived for my second shoot of it this morning and then it was time to start the walk back to my car. I got to the bottom of the very long steps and had to wait for some people to come down them. The last person down said to me the best way up is to just keep going until you get to the top. I did try honest but about half of the way up there was a bench that just said to me come and sit on me.
A nice walk and one better suited for the summer months as it would not be so muddy then, but it was still very enjoyable.
