Amsterdam Arena Home Of Ajax May 2005
It is hard to believe that I visited this great stadium way back in May 2005, I was in Holland with my late wife Carol visiting my very good Dutch friend Rolf Polder. We were lucky to have an exclusive tour of the stadium and I even managed to have my photo taken with many of the players who were playing for Ajax back then.
In some of the shots you will see they were taken behind a wire mesh, this was the away end way up high and all away fans had to buy a train ticket to the ground. They were then taken from the railway station right beside the ground, up a covered tunnel that took them into the away section. At the end of the game it was back down the tunnel and straight onto the awaiting train. You can see the tunnel in the third picture below.
