Western Lady Ferry Ride 8th July 2018
Earlier in the week I read a post on facebook from a lady who said what wonderful different views you get of Torbay on Western Lady Ferry. Being my last day of my holiday off work I did not want to waste the day, but what to do?
These days while I want to go out, the big problem is always where, I have been everywhere around here so many times and while I did not want to travel too far, I wanted to do something different.
Well let me tell you today I spent only £7 and it was the best £7 I have ever spent. I walked to the zoo and got onto one of our new open topped buses. I bought a day rider ticket for £5 and got off at Paignton bus station. This bus from the zoo goes down over Clennon Valley and along the seafront before turning up Torbay Road to get to the station.
I then got on the number 12 bus to Brixham which was not so nice as this bus has a roof and it was so hot on it upstairs by the front window as that was the only spare seat. I had planned to do a photo shoot in Brixham but by the time I got there the 14.00 hour ferry was about to leave and I decided to get on that one. It only costs just £2 one way or £3 for a return ticket, now that is real value for a half hour trip across the Bay.
The ferry was packed and as one of the last ones on I was not expecting to get a seat, but I saw one was spare right up at the front and quickly grabbed it. I have to agree it is good to see the Bay from the sea and on the trip over to Torquay you soon realise just how big the bay really is.
Due to the heat I did not want to be out too long in it, so did another shoot of the harbour etc before getting onto another open topped bus back to Paignton Zoo. I took some shots from the top of the bus along the way and it is also good to see things from a higher viewpoint.
I really enjoyed myself today, just as well as it is back to work in this heat wave tomorrow.
