Victoria Park & Seafront Walk 19 August 2018
It has been a very long time since I have had two days off on the trot from work and I was not going to waste them. On Saturday I covered the Stoke Gabriel V Budleigh Salterton football match and today I just went for a short walk.
I find it amazing how many beautiful things there are to take photos of and all right here on our doorstep. While I love taking sport photos I am just at much at home taking landscape shots and buildings etc.
My main objective today was to take a few photos of the Netherlands National Circus on Paignton Green to send to my good Dutch friend Rolf who lives in Holland.
I parked on the main road outside Oldway and walked through Victoria Park to the seafront. My photo shoot was only ruined by the mess the former Park Hotel is now and the building next door. These two buildings are an eyesore and not a good avert for our town, how long will they stay looking like this?
As I got onto the green the last rides of the fair were being packed away and as I looked towards the circus tent, a good number of people and children were coming out of it.
Strangely I have never waked in the small grounds of Parkfield house but I have now. I saw a squirrel on a bench but it moved off before I could get a shot of it. But a bit later on I thought I saw the squirrel again go under some bushes. I waited but was very surpised to see a large rat come out followed by a few more.
I walked back up Lower Polsham Road and was surprised to see the pub is no more and has been converted into dwellings. I was soon back at my car and really enjoyed this short but wonderful walk.
