Oddicombe Beach The Other View 21st May 2019
There once was a time when you could park your car at the end of Petitor Road and walk down to the cliff edge and right down to the left hand side of Oddicombe Beach. Then across the beach to the cliff railway end or even walk around to Babbacombe Beach.
This very enjoyable walk came to an end after a number of cliff falls that ended up with Ridgemont Lodge falling over the edge of the cliff. For anyone who does not know the story of Ridgemont House, you can read all about it and view many photos on this thread on Davesworld

On local facebook pages we see so many photos of Oddicombe Beach taken from Babbacombe Downs and it has to be one of the best views in Torbay. While a good part of Oddicombe Beach was lost as a result of the cliff falls, it still remains open and in use and as the rock fall is slowing getting covered in vegetation, in years to come people might never know how it once looked.
While I was doing a photo shoot up on Walls Hill of Long Quarry, I noticed from there that there was evidence of another quarry at the far end of Oddicombe Beach. So today’s mission was to try and get some shots of that quarry and also shots of the beach from angles we do not normally see.
I parked at the end of Petitor Road and walked down to the cliff edge just above the old quarry and was happy there was just enough space to set up and fly the drone from. An elderly gentleman who was on his way to the nudist beach stopped and chatted and took a real interest in the drone
After achieving my aim I went on a small walkabout with my camera but decided not to walk to far as I had other plans for later in the day.
