Torquay At Night 10th November 2019
For a good number of years now, I have wanted to do a night time photo shoot in Torquay. Tonight was the perfect opportunity and one not to be missed. I have lived all my adult life in the Bay but I was born in Newton Abbot and grew up there.
I remember getting my first car and fitting a CB radio in it (citizens Band) and back then Torquay was known as the Bright Lights. But it was with the wonderful Rock Walk and other beautiful lights along the seafront.
I do not think I can ever forgive Torbay Council for turning Rock Walk into Wreck Walk as I like to call it now, what was loved so much is gone and can never ever look the same again.
But just how good did Wreck Walk look these last three days thanks to the Great Wavelength event, simply just wonderful and amazing. If anyone had visited Torquay over the last three days for the very first time, they had to be impressed with how this light show made Torquay look.
They may well have thought this is how it always looks and really it should, after all we are a tourist destination and every effort should be made to get the Bay looking its best at all times and not just for the odd weekend.
I decided to catch the bus over to Torquay from my home close to the Zoo, it only cost just £3 to get from there to the Grand Hotel, I thought bus travel was more expensive. It was good to see so many people out enjoying everything that was put on, just a shame the toilets close to the pitch and putt were closed with a notice stating it was due to vandalism.
I walked all along the seafront and the harbour before catching a taxi back home to Paignton , by then the streets were deserted and it was getting much colder, so I was glad to get home back in the warm.
