The sun was up early and so was I so I took the opportunity to get the drone up in the sky again. Today was more about trying out a number of the pano modes built into the drone’s software, rather than where I was going to fly. I really must find new places to fly as I have taken so many shots at Broadsands, but it is a place I feel safe to fly normally.
The pano shots worked out well enough, but I cocked up saving them properly so it is something I will have another go at a later date. I was very pleased to see my very first dear at Broadsands, he ran right passed me very close, but it was only when he had gone out of site, I felt a bit angry with myself for not catching it on my phone or with the drone.
I soon forgot about the dear as the drone was 80 metres up and about 500 metres away from me; I looked up at it and saw a very large black coloured bird paying it far too much attention. This was a very big bird with an orange beak; I have looked online but can’t find a picture of any bird that looked like this one.
I switched the drone over to sports mode (about 42mph top speed) and sent it up higher, birds can not climb up higher that fast and no where near as fast as the drone can climb. At the same time I was sending the drone further away from where the bird was and thankfully he decided not to chase after it. Heart in the mouth moment for sure, I decided at that point to bring the drone home as one big scare a day is enough for me lol.
