Paignton Villa Woman V SB Oak Villa Ladies 4th sept 2022
Yesterday Paignton Villa made history as they had three men’s teams playing in the South Devon league and all three teams picked up points.
But club history was also made today as their brand new woman’s team played their very first league match. Back on the 29th May 2022 the Villa Ladies played their very first game in a friendly against Bradninch Woman FC, they lost the game by eleven goals to nil, but they were playing a side that had played a whole league season together. I did pop along to that match to take some match photos that can be viewed on this link

I decided to pop up to Whiterock to lend my support in their first league match and to take some match photos. I did not do a match report as such; these are just my thoughts on the game.
Villa started very well and took a very early lead in the game, they won a corner and from my angle it looked like the ball had gone in straight from the corner kick, but it have got a touch on the goal line.
The first ever goal Villa had scored but they could not hold onto the lead as Oak Villa got an equaliser moments later. Oak Villa was playing really good balls down the flanks and it was no real surprise they scored three more times during the first half.
The second half got under way and Oak Villa were parked in the Paignton Villa half, but the Paignton women were looking much stronger in defence.
On one of the rare times Paignton got over the halfway line they went and scored their second goal. Could they find a way back into the match? Sadly not and Oak Villa scored a fifth goal putting the game far beyond the reach of the Paignton Ladies.
Paignton Villa Woman will improve with the more games they play together, a great bunch as you would expect playing for such a great and well run club.
